Abstract
Os autores, depois de breve recapitulação sôbre a história e quadro clínico do síndroma de Guillain e Barré, relatam duas observações típicas, consecutivas a uma epidemia gripal muito intensa, ocorrida em alguns quartéis de Lisboa. Os dois casos apresentavam dissociação albumino-citológica muito intensa no líq cefalorraquidiano, e sua evolução foi favorável. Ao lado dêstes, outros casos foram suspeitados. Os autores discutem a patogenia do síndroma. Afastando a hipótese de um vírus específico, contra a qual enumeram abundantes argumentos, os autores defendem a teoria alérgica. Para êles, a dissociação albumino-citológica representaria uma forma de inflamação serosa alérgica e o síndroma de Guillain-Barré seria a forma periférica, meningoradículo-neurítica, da neuralergia.
