Abstract
Eleven newArizona serotypes (1,3∶17, 20; 9∶1, 2, 10; 9∶1, 2, 36; 10∶1, 2, 36; 12∶23∶28; 14∶1, 2, 6; 18∶1, 3, 11; 19∶16, 17, 18; 20∶23∶21; 22∶13, 14; and 24∶24∶31) are described. With the exception of two strains (18∶1, 3, 11 and 24∶24∶31) isolated from the feces of asymptomatic persons, the organisms were derived from definite episodes of enteric, focal, or generalized infections. Types 1,3∶17, 20 and 10∶1, 2, 36 were isolated from blood cultures and type 22∶13, 14 from the blood, spinal fluid, and cerebral abscesses in a fatal case of meningoencephalitis.
