Aim and Scope Mission: JOCLSI serves as a critical forum for exploring the interconnectedness of childhood literacy development and the complex societal issues that shape children's lives. Aim: By fostering interdisciplinary scholarship and dialogue, JOCLSI seeks to: Highlight the diverse ways that literacy development intersects with critical societal issues affecting children, such as poverty, inequity, globalization, migration, and technology. Advance theoretical and empirical research that illuminates the complexities of literacy learning in various social contexts. Inform policy and practice by showcasing research-based interventions and strategies that promote equitable and culturally responsive literacy education for all children. Encourage collaboration and critical reflection among scholars, educators, practitioners, and policymakers with diverse perspectives on childhood literacy and societal issues. Scope: JOCLSI welcomes original research articles, theoretical essays, critical reviews, and methodological reflections that address the intersections of childhood literacy and societal issues. Specific areas of interest include: Literacy development in marginalized communities and among diverse populations. The impact of social policies and economic structures on literacy access and outcomes. The role of media, technology, and popular culture in shaping children's literacy practices. Culturally and linguistically responsive literacy pedagogy and interventions. Historical and critical perspectives on literacy and social change. The ethical implications of research and practice in relation to childhood literacy and societal issues.
