Abstract
Kuznets hipotezi, ekonomik gelişme ile
gelir dağılımı eşitsizliği arasında çan-eğrisi biçiminde bir ilişki olduğunu
öne sürmektedir. Bu çalışmada Kuznets’in ters U eğrisi hipotezi Türkiye için
1978-2016 dönemini kapsayan uzun dönem zaman serileri kullanılarak test
edilmiştir. Kişi başına düşen milli gelir ile gelir dağılımı eşitsizliği
arasındaki uzun dönem ilişki Pesaran vd. (2001)’nin ARDL sınır testi yaklaşımı
kullanılarak hem doğrusal hem de logaritmik model çerçevesinde araştırılmıştır.
Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre Türkiye’de kişi başına düşen milli gelir
ile gelir dağılımı eşitsizliği arasında Kuznets’in savunduğu çan-eğrisi
şeklindeki ilişkinin aksine U şeklinde bir ilişki söz konusudur.
