Abstract
Por meio da comparação narrativa do livro Os Sertões (1907) e sua adaptação para o cinema Guerra de Canudos (1997), propomos uma leitura do conceito de Obra Aberta de Umberto Eco. O processo de adaptação entre os meios de comunicação redefine o sentido dos personagens, porém considerando o processo da obra aberta entre ambas narrativas, elas se tornam convergentes. Apontando para o público uma multiplicidade de imagens midiáticas do conflito em Canudos enquanto uma realidade ficcional.
