Abstract
L'article descriu el creixement de Barcelona cap al Vallès i el Maresme, amb l'impuls de les inversions olímpiques, que eixamplen, així, la conurbació. L'article situa Barcelona dins el context ecològico-regional, explica quines quantitats d'energia exosomàtica i d'aigua es fan servir, i quin origen tenen. L'article critica aquest creixement. tot recordant les idees de planificació urbana més ecològiques en les primeres dècades d'aquest segle (per exemple, el moviment de la Ciutat Jardí de Cebrià de Montoliu), i explica les raons del fracàs d'aquestes idees.
