Abstract
Data driven learning is a key pedagogical approach for advanced, specialist learners of modern languages. Its applicability to a wider audience needs careful thought, particularly since many foreign language learners today are involved in a range of informal activities which place them in contact with a large quantity of online resources in the target language. This article considers pedagogical solutions which may allow the linguistic data hidden in these activities to be put to good use in the classroom.
