Abstract
Main sources of our study, which is about banditry activities broke out during the second half of XVI. Century in Vize district, are mühimme registries (registries of Supreme Court in Ottoman Empire). Vize and its vicinity were convenient for banditry activities due to its geographical conditions. This study presents public order problems and the state measures taken against them as much as it is provided in mühimme registries. In addition, important information regarding social and economic structure of the region was obtained in accordance with the data derived from mühimme registries.
