Abstract
The article deals with the problem of determining the date of mass media establishment in the Chechen language. The author refutes the well-known opinion in the scientific literature that the first Chechen newspaper was published in 1925. An attempt is made to show the role and place of the first Chechen publications in the system of Bolshevik national journalism.
