Abstract
This research in visual arts teacher training institutions in Turkey, the discipline of art criticism, in order to determine the effect of the printmaking course is a study which aims to reveal the student opinions. In order to obtain the findings, qualitative data were used. In the 2011-2012 academic year, Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Education Department, Painting-Work Education Department Elective Art Workshop III (Printmaking) 3 class students taking the course were selected. Research; The students in the 3R1 class were randomly recruited for 4 weeks. During this period, in the optional printmaking workshop, students were given instruction methods which were supported by the discipline of art criticism. The research findings were obtained by the student interview form and the observer's observations. Opinions were obtained by asking open-ended questions. The analysis of the findings obtained was to examine the students' responses to the questions in the interview form, organize them according to the themes put forth by the research questions, calculate the frequency and percentages, make quotations and interpret them. Such an approach is considered as a analiz descriptive analysis ada approach in qualitative research. As a result of the qualitative procedures applied in the research, the optional art workshop in the printmaking course; When the answers of the students in the 3R1 class, where the teaching methods supported by the discipline of art criticism are applied, are examined, it is concluded that their opinions on the content of the course are remarkably positive.
