Abstract
This research aims to analyze the opportunities for the revitalization of the architectural heritage of Saidu Sharif, Swat. The revitalization of urban areas and cities dominated by heritage sites, is governed by the genius loci. Retaining and revitalizing such sites will not only strengthen the cultural, architectural, and economic values but may also create a strong bond between the historic buildings and the local community. The state of swat was known for its architectural design, street patterns, and structures. This research selected Saidu Sharif as a case study and different historic buildings were examined through physical surveys, followed by interview sessions with experts and the local community. A multitude of factor were identified including but not limited to climatic effects, earthquakes, chaotic developments, and terrorism, due to which most historic buildings are gradually vanishing. guidelines for the formulation of a conservation plan and revitalization for the Historic Site were recommended.
