Abstract
Abstract Purpose To assess for differences in iHOT-12 outcomes based on sex, tear complexity, and labral treatment type in patients with acetabular rim fracture undergoing hip arthroscopy. Methods Patients with acetabular rim fracture who underwent primary unilateral hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) were included. Nonparametric Mann-Whitney U tests were performed to assess for differences in baseline, 2-year, and change iHOT-12 scores between males and females, tear complexity (mild-moderate vs severe), and repair vs reconstruction procedures. Pearson's correlations were determined to assess for relationships between age, Lateral Center Edge Angle (LCEA) of Wiberg, and alpha angle and baseline, 2-year, and change iHOT-12 scores. MCID was determined using ½ SD of the change score for iHOT-12. Results Twenty-four patients with acetabular rim fracture were included (15 male, 9 female; mean age 41.2 ± 11.9 years). The average preoperative and 2-year postoperative iHOT-12 scores were 39.0 ± 20.1 and 76.4 ± 26.8, respectively, with a mean change score of 37.4 ± 21.8. No significant differences in baseline, 2-year, or change iHOT-12 scores were identified between males and females, tear complexity groups, or repair vs reconstruction procedures (p > 0.05). Effect sizes ranged between -0.274 and 0.259. No significant correlations were identified between age, lateral center edge angle, or alpha angle and 2-year, or change iHOT-12 scores (p > 0.05). The MCID for change iHOT-12 score in this sample was 10.9. The proportion of patients meeting the MCID was 83.3% (20/24). Conclusion In patients with acetabular rim fracture undergoing hip arthroscopy, iHOT-12 outcomes at two years were not significantly based on sex, tear complexity, or type of labral treatment. No clinically meaningful correlations were identified between radiographic parameters or age and postoperative outcomes.
