Abstract
Abstract Background Intense pulsed light (IPL), hybrid fractional 1470/2940-nm laser, and fractionated 1927-nm laser systems are well established, independent treatment modalities; however, their concurrent use may provide synergistic benefits within a single recovery period. Objectives To evaluate the safety and efficacy of combined IPL, 1470/2940-nm laser, and 1927-nm laser treatment for pigmentary and actinic changes. Methods In this single-center, non-randomized, prospective study, 15 adults with Fitzpatrick skin phototypes I-IV received one (n = 7) or two (n = 8) combination treatments. VISIA imaging was performed at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months to quantify changes in UV spots, brown spots, visible spots, wrinkles, and pores. Mean percent change from baseline was calculated, and nonparametric testing was used to evaluate paired changes. Patient-reported symptoms were recorded. Results Mean contrast intensity decreased across all spot-related features after both single and double treatments, with greater improvements observed after two sessions. At 3 months following two treatments, reductions were greatest for UV spots (-39.9%), followed by brown spots (-11.5%) and visible spots (-4.1%). Improvements were also observed in wrinkle thickness (-4.9%), wrinkle area (-13.6%), wrinkle count (-17.0%), pore area (-16.0%), and pore count (-14.2%). Treatment-related symptoms were mild and transient, with no serious adverse events reported. Conclusions In this pilot study, combined IPL, 1470/2940-nm laser, and 1927-nm laser treatment appears to be a safe, well-tolerated approach that may improve UV and brown spot contrast after a single session, with additional improvements in UV and brown spot contrast, wrinkle thickness, and pore area after two sessions.
