Abstract
Abstract We retrospectively compared 239 Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli (STEC) cases and 686 controls from an outbreak among Marine Corps recruits to assess post-infectious sequelae. Over 3.7 years, hypertension, renal dysfunction, and irritable bowel syndrome were rare and not significantly increased among cases, including those with hemolytic uremic syndrome.
