Abstract
El panteón real de Nájera se configuró y planificó en 1545. El arquitecto Juan Martínez de Mutio levantó las bóvedas que lo cobijan y el pintor Alonso Gallego lo diseñó con veinticinco sepulturas y dos heraldos. En la ejecución de los orantes y yacentes que lo adornan hubo de contar con la participación de un escultor, seguramente Arnao de Bruselas. Las esculturas se realizaron en piedra arenisca local, pero se revistieron con un enlucido a imitación del alabastro.
