Abstract
This letter is linked to the recent case report, “Late-onset PLEC-nEDD (epidermolysis bullosa simplex-Ogna) published in a Chinese patient” in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology. Here, epidermolysis bullosa simplex is designated as an Epidermal differentiation disorder (EDD). This is scientifically imprecise, since plectin, the defective protein, is a major cytolinker protein involved in the anchorage of the cytoskeleton. Clinically and pathophysiologically, epidermolysis bullosa belongs to the broad group of epidermolysis bullosa and the disorders with skin fragility.
