Abstract
We report a single-centre service evaluation following implementation of a semi-structured electronic patient record autotext template to improve documentation and early management of toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), in response to the British Association of Dermatologists national audit. Use of the autotext was associated with a positive trend towards improved documentation of key clinical parameters, including SCORTEN, medication history and early ophthalmology referral, although inconsistencies remained in urogenital assessment and discharge planning. This pragmatic, transferable intervention may support standardisation of TEN care and facilitate future audit and registry development in this rare condition.
