Abstract
This correspondence emphasizes that identifying prognostic factors for recurrence in thin melanoma is only the first step, and that individualized surveillance should be guided by validated multivariable risk prediction models rather than isolated pathological features. It argues that calibration and decision curve analysis are needed to demonstrate whether risk-adapted follow-up provides meaningful clinical benefit beyond statistical significance. Finally, it highlights the need for external validation and contemporary data before these findings are incorporated into routine melanoma surveillance guidelines.
