Abstract
Pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue is a benign mucosal pigmentary variant characterised by hyperpigmentation confined to fungiform papillae, most frequently observed in individuals with darker skin phototypes. Although clinically distinctive, concurrent cutaneous pigmentation may create diagnostic uncertainty and prompt consideration of systemic or syndromic disease.
