Abstract
A Modified Murthy Estimator of population total has been developed for use with unequal probability sampling. Design based expectation and variance of the Modified Murthy estimator has been obtained. The empirical study has also been carried out to see the relative performance of this estimator. It has been found that the tee (Modified Murthy) estimator performs better for populations having negative skewness and negative kurtosis.
