Abstract
We explored age-specific infant RSV laboratory-confirmed hospitalisation rates by birth month in Western Australia. Population-based analyses were supplemented with a Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Recovered-(Susceptible) mathematical model simulations. RSV-hospitalisations peaked for infants aged 1-3 months born in-season and 6-10 months born out-of-season, that is spring and summer born infants. Offering an additional nirsevimab dose to spring and summer born infants could avert significant hospitalisations and healthcare costs.
