Abstract
Summary In a 79-year-old woman who underwent ascending-aortic replacement for type-A acute-aortic dissection 12 years before, computed tomography (CT) demonstrated enlargement of the distal-aortic arch from 46 to 71 mm, infra-renal aorta from 31 to 70 mm, bilateral common-iliac arteries respectively from 24 to 47 mm, and left internal-iliac artery from 24 to 47 mm over nine years. The dissecting distal aortic-arch aneurysm was rupturing with massive hemoptysis, and the patient unfortunately died of hemorrhagic shock before surgery. The aorta should be monitored independently from its size at baseline on a long-term basis after aortic events such as aortic dissection and repair.
