Abstract
Steven-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are life threatening mucocutaneous type IV hypersensitivity reactions characterised by blistering and erosions. The acute complications and challenges in managing SJS/TEN are well documented; however, a paradigm shift is underway in how SJS/TEN is viewed with increasing recognition of the chronic phase of this condition by both clinicians and researchers. Here we present the case of a now 14-year-old boy diagnosed with TEN at age 7 to highlight the wide breadth of long-term complications experienced spanning otologic, dental, ocular, cutaneous and autoimmune sequelae.
