Abstract
Abstract There have been many changes over the past 40 years in scientific publishing, including concerns about conflict of interest, the debut of the Internet, data-sharing, open access publishing, mandated registration of randomized clinical trials, the challenges of reproducibility and replicability, preprints, and the use of generative AI to help create and review manuscripts. These issues and the future of scientific publishing are discussed.
