Abstract
Blockchain technology has emerged as a revolutionary tool in various industries, and its potential to transform the healthcare sector is increasingly recognized. The application of blockchain in healthcare systems promises to improve transparency, security, and efficiency by providing decentralized, immutable records. This paper explores the role of blockchain in advancing transparent healthcare systems, focusing on its applications in medical data management, patient privacy, and supply chain tracking. We delve into the technical architecture of blockchain and its benefits over traditional systems. Additionally, the study examines case studies of blockchain implementation in healthcare systems globally and discusses the challenges and opportunities in the Pakistani context. The paper concludes by suggesting pathways for implementing blockchain-based solutions in Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring transparency and improved healthcare delivery.
