Abstract
This comparative study examines the sociopolitical influences on climate change policy in Pakistan. In a rapidly changing global climate, nations must respond with effective policy strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change. Pakistan, being one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, presents a unique case study of how sociopolitical factors, including political ideologies, governance structures, and societal values, shape the formation and implementation of climate change policies. This paper compares Pakistan's climate policy landscape with those of other South Asian nations, exploring the role of political parties, civil society, and international cooperation in shaping policy outcomes. Through an analysis of historical and contemporary data, this study highlights key challenges and opportunities in formulating effective climate change policies in Pakistan.
