Abstract
Sustainable urban development is a critical challenge for rapidly growing cities worldwide. In Pakistan, urbanization pressures, environmental degradation, and socio economic inequality demand innovative solutions. This article explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support sustainable urban development by integrating technological tools, policy frameworks, and social change. Drawing on case studies and theoretical models, we propose a multidimensional framework that aligns AI enabled urban services (e.g., smart infrastructure, predictive analytics), governance and regulatory policies, and citizen participation. We examine constraints including data privacy, bias, institutional capacity, and public trust. The article concludes with policy recommendations for Pakistani urban contexts and suggests areas for future research.
