Abstract
The integration of digital health platforms with electronic health records (EHRs) is transforming care delivery worldwide by enabling seamless data sharing, reducing fragmentation, and enhancing patient-centered decision-making. In Pakistan, healthcare systems are fragmented, with limited interoperability and inadequate access to structured health data, creating barriers to effective coordination of care. Medisense, a next-generation digital health platform, offers the potential to bridge these gaps by integrating real-time clinical analytics, artificial intelligence, and decision-support tools with EHR systems.
This article explores the opportunities and challenges of integrating Medisense with EHRs to improve care coordination in Pakistan. Four key aspects are analyzed: (1) streamlining patient data sharing, (2) enabling clinical decision support, (3) reducing duplication and inefficiencies, and (4) addressing ethical and infrastructural challenges. Graphical illustrations highlight adoption trends, efficiency gains, and barriers to implementation. Findings suggest that integration of Medisense with EHRs can significantly improve the continuity, quality, and safety of care in Pakistan’s healthcare system, provided that robust governance and infrastructural investments are established.
