Abstract
Background: Higher education institutions (HEIs) face challenges because of factors which include sensitive competition and global rankings and their existing resource limitations that create pressure on their faculty members and administrative personnel. The organization considers employee well-being to be their most important strategic issue. The supportive HR practices (SHRP) create positive work environments but their effects on employee well-being should be studied through their operational processes and their limitations because this area remains insufficiently researched in developing countries. Objectives: This study investigates the impact of supportive HR practices on employee well-being (EWB) in HEIs, examining person–organization fit (POF) as a mediator and performance pressure (PP) as a moderator. Design/Methods: This study collected data from 290 faculty and administrative staff members who worked at public and private higher education institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. The researchers used a structured questionnaire to evaluate SHRP EWB, POF and PP. The researchers used analysis tool SPSS to examine direct effect, mediation, and moderation analysis. Results: The study shows that SHRP positively influenced EWB. POF partially mediates the link between SHRP-EW. Further, EP moderates the link between SHRP-EWB. Additionally, EP moderates the link between SHRP-EWB via POF.
