Abstract
The research investigates Allama Iqbal Town Sabzi Mandi located in Kareem Block Multan Road Lahore as the primary basis for design analysis in Aangan Mandi & Residences architectural project. The paper uses the phenomenological concepts established by Zumthor and Pallasmaa and Bachelard and Norberg-Schulz and Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty to demonstrate that the mandi functions as an essential site which stands beyond its operational shortcomings because its actual sensory experience and its cultural history and its community connections function as assets which designers should use instead of discarding them. The study uses Husserlian and Merleau-Pontian and Heideggerian and Van Manen's hermeneutic methods to study how atmospheric strength and threshold uncertainty and material authenticity and community presence interact in order to create architectural solutions. The research establishes that a phenomenological redesign solution which preserves market sensory experiences while solving infrastructure problems presents the best approach to create a mandi which achieves operational efficiency and maintains dignified user experiences.
