Abstract
The rapid advancement of mobile payment systems has transformed the global tourism transaction landscape. However, foreign tourists in China encounter significant challenges when interacting with its highly digitized payment ecosystem. This study examines the payment experiences of international visitors, focusing on barriers such as verification constraints, limited platform interoperability, and language-related usability issues. Based on qualitative interviews with 30 foreign tourists, the findings indicate that payment accessibility significantly influences travel satisfaction and spending behavior. Tourists adopt adaptive strategies, including reliance on cash and social support networks. The study highlights the need for more inclusive, interoperable, and multilingual payment systems to enhance cross-border tourism experiences and strengthen China’s global tourism competitiveness.
