Abstract
There is no doubt that CPEC will essentially transform economic and social outlook of the region, thus, robust cultural cooperation is lifeblood to unlock the true potential power of this multifaceted undertaking. Cultural exchange has gradually increased under CPEC, bringing people of both countries closer to each other while creating new possibilities for diversified cross-cultural engagements. However, the cultural component under CPEC is battling with significant issues which need full comprehension to address them effectively. This research review historical relationship between Pakistan and China and explores the underlying challenges and opportunities to develop strong ties between the people of China and Pakistan. Drawing on the social exchange theory, this paper analyses challenges and highlights cultural conduits for China-Pakistan cultural relations under CPEC. The paper posits culture as a development enabler, thus, persisting sociocultural challenges would negatively affect the CPEC in achieving its development goals.
