The Contemporary Meaning of Asceticism and Its Role in Human Life: An Analytical Study

The religion of Islam is the embodiment of both external and internal sciences, and encourages its followers to acquire and practice both sciences. The acquisition of external sciences alone is not desirable, nor is the acquisition of internal sciences alone desirable. Similarly, the acquisition of knowledge alone is not desirable, but it should also be accompanied by intention and action, and its promotion and dissemination should also be done. Asceticism is a constant chapter for Sufis, and it is of great importance in their spiritual journey. Inner cleansing and development are not possible without adopting Asceticism, especially since the social problems faced by the individual in the present day can be overcome with the help of Asceticism. So, this discussion is being presented to understand the meaning of Asceticism and to shed light on its benefits in human life.
