Abstract
Ilm al-kalam is a highly appreciated field of knowledge due to its prime importance in the beliefs of Islam. It not only encompass the issues of existence and attributes of Allah but also helps in understanding the Prophecy and the life hereafter. It is obligatory on every Muslim to know as a communal understanding of these issues. Similarly its significance is multiplied when some heretic persons tried to create doubts in basic Islamic beliefs. However, some scholars condemned the Ilm al-kalam. Indeed they have not condemned the Ilm al-kalam rather explained the basic purpose of Ilm al-kalam according to the Quran and Sunnah. They filtered out the misconceptions which are creating confusions in the basic knowledge of Islamic beliefs.
