Abstract
Education always played a pivotal role in the advancement of nations throughout the annals of human history. The nations who lose sight of and turn back towards the significance of education are doomed to collapse. First revelation of the Qur’ān underscores and reflects the importance and utility of education. The Prophet Muḥammad (SAWS) developed such an immaculate system of education for the welfare and betterment of his Ummah that turned a rustic society into a disciplined and well-organized civilization in a few years, struggle. ‘Umar Fārūq (RA) not only perpetuated this system during his caliphate but also improved it to the zenith of perfection and excellence. He established educational institutions and appointed such eminent persons who were matchless in their learning and wisdom. Preach and progression of the Qur’ān, Ḥadīth, Islāmic Jurisprudence and other sciences was executed through well-coordinated and concerted policies and mosques also contributed a great deal of role in this regard. Mosques also imparted religious education in addition to ministering the devotion and worship. In a nutshell, Úmar Fārūq (RA) worked out unparalleled educational policies while capitalizing upon the available resources during his caliphate and successfully implemented these policies in practice throughout the nook and corner of the state.
