Abstract
ʽAbdullah ibn al-Mubarak (118/726-797) was born during the Reign of Hisham ibn Abdul-Malik۔ Abdullah ibn Mubarak was an early pious Muslim known for his memory and zeal for knowledge, collected Ḥadith (Muḥaddith), and was remembered for his asceticism. He earned the title Amīr al Muminīn fī al-Ḥadith. He was also known for defending Islamic borders on the frontiers of Zarsus and al-Massisah, and later died at Hit near the Euphrates, in the year 797 CE. ʽAbdullah ibn Mubarak (RA) is one of pious personalities of Islam, who took part in every field of life whether it may be Jihād or it might be business or excursion but in spite of all this fact, he never lost himself in this mortal life. Rather he always liked Jihad and isolation. ʽAbdullah ibn Mubarak is one of those poets who are much impressed with the teachings of Qurʼān and Ḥadith. There are countless occasions when he has narrated whole verse of Qurʼān or Hadith in his poetry. In my short essay, I will shortly narrate Abdullah ibn Mubarak’s introduction, his intellectual and literary status, his poetry and its characteristics and topics and then impression of Ḥadith on his poetry and in the end, present some verses of his poetry in which there is an explicit impression of sayings of the Holy Prophet.
