Abstract
जिला सहकारी बैंक लिमिटेड, जौनपुर की स्थापना ”सहकारी समिति अधिनियम“ 1904 के अन्तर्गत निबन्धन संख्या-2, 14 अगस्त 1907 ई0 को हुई। सर्वप्रथम सन् 1882 में विलियम वेडरबर्न तथा न्यायाधीश रानाडे ने सरकार से किसानों को ऋण देने के लिए सिफारिश की थी। इसके उपरान्त सन् 1892 में मद्रास सरकार ने फ्रेडरिक निकलसन को सहकारी अध्ययन करने हेतु जर्मनी भेजा जिन्होंने सन् 1895 में सहकारी समितियों की स्थापना किये जाने का सुझाव दिया और बताया कि जर्मनी की भाँति रैफिसन तथा शुल्ज डीलिटज समितियाँ खोली जाय यह समितियाँ ग्रामीण किसानों को तथा शहर में रहने वाले छोटे-छोटे दस्तकारों को ऋण प्रदान करती है। सन् 1898 में फ्रेडरिक निकलसन ने मद्रास सरकार की ग्रामीण ऋण ग्रस्तता की समस्या सुलझाने हेतु सहकारी साख समितियों को संगठित करने का सुझाव दिया।
