Abstract
This study investigate the Influence of workplace incivility on employees’ job performance in Kano state internal revenue service. Two research objectives were formulated for the study:To determine the effect of workplace incivility on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service and to determine the effect of work stress on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service. Two research questions were equally formulated from the objectives:What is the effect of workplace incivility on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service and What is the effect of work stress on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service?While two Research hypotheses were tested, which include: There is no significant effect of workplace incivility on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service and there is no significant effect of work stress on employees’ job performance in Kano State Internal Revenue Service. Two research designs where used in this study, that is the descriptive research design and the survey research design. The Descriptive research design is used to describe the characteristics of existing phenomenon; On the other hand, survey research design was also used as the study entails the use of field respondents in order to express their views in the information contained in the questionnaire. The population of this study is made up of the entire employees of Kano State Internal Revenue Service. The target population is 954 employees as at the year 2021, (obtained from the office of the Chief of Staff to chairman, Kano State Internal Revenue Service to the office of Director Admin and General Services DAGS).A sample size of 274 were utilized to represent the entire population, through the sample table and formula of Krejcie and Morgan (1970). A total of 280 copies of the questionnaires were administered to 274 respondents. For the purpose of this study, the primary data is source from copies questionnaires administered. Questionnaire is the research instrument adopted for responders with precisely modified questions. From the first findings, it demonstrate a significant and positive correlation between employee job performance and workplace incivility within the Kano State Board of Internal Revenue Service, while the second findings suggest that work-related stress and workplace incivility have a detrimental impact on the job performance of employees in the Kano State Internal Revenue Service. The following recommendation were made: Provide conducive office environments to reduce work-related stress and promote employee well-being, Offer improved remuneration to mitigate the effects of workplace incivility and boost employee job satisfaction, Encourage respectful interactions, empathy, and civility among employees to reduce workplace incivility and Implement stress-reduction strategies, such as employee wellness programs, to minimize the impact of work stress on job performance.
