Abstract
This study examined the Relationship between Stress, Anxiety and Adjustment of Girl-Child Students in MEGA Schools in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria. The study was guided by four objectives, two research questions and two hypotheses. The study employed correlation and ex-post facto research designs. The population of the study was 11,033 girl-child students in MEGA schools, Maiduguri Metropolis. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used. Research Advisor (2006) Table for determining the sample size was used in selecting 550 participants. Inventory tilted Stress-Anxiety Inventory” (SAI) was used as data collection instrument, with a reliability coefficient of 0.86 determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Research questions were analysed using Mean(x) and standard deviation while hypotheses were answered by Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The findings reveals that: there was low level of stress; low level of anxiety as well as low level adjustment of displaced girl-child students in MEGA schools, Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria. There was also a positive significant relationship between level of stress and adjustment, level of anxiety and adjustment of displaced girl-child student in MEGA Schools in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria. The study concludes that, there was significant positive psychological effects of displacement and adjustment on the Girl-child students in MEGA Schools in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria. It was recommended among others that Government should employ psychologists who should provide psychological interventions that could help to continue taking care of psychological effect of Displacement of girl-child in MEGA schools in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria.
