Abstract
This study investigates impact of the US–China trade war, particularly under the Trump administration, on domestic policies in the two countries. The primary objective of the study is to analyze how trade tensions influenced domestic economic and political shifts, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology. The research employs a qualitative methodology, relying on secondary data from trade reports, government documents, academic articles, and media sources. The findings reveal that the trade war led to significant policy shifts, including government subsidies for US farmers, changes in industrial strategies, and efforts in both countries to reduce economic dependence on each other. Furthermore, the study finds that these changes were not limited to immediate trade policy adjustments but reflected broader shifts in the political economy, including the rise of economic nationalism and the redefinition of trade relations. One is that future trade negotiations between major economic powers should consider the long-term effects on domestic industries and the potential for trade wars to provoke structural shifts in national policies.
