Abstract
The study assessed the use of digital technologies for teaching biology in secondary schools in Benue State, Nigeria. The study used a descriptive survey design and was guided by three research objectives: Determine the extent of digital technology availability in Government Secondary Schools (GSS) and Private Secondary Schools (PSS), Assess the extent of digital technology utilization by biology teachers in GSS and PSS, Evaluate the competence level of biology teachers in using digital technologies. Findings; Private Secondary Schools (PSS) have digital technologies available to a great extent, while Government Secondary Schools (GSS) have them available only to a moderate extent, PSS teachers utilize digital technologies in teaching biology to a moderate extent, while GSS teachers utilize them to a low extent and PSS teachers have a moderate competence level in using digital technologies, while GSS teachers have a low competence level. The paper Recommends: Ensure digital technologies are available in schools to a great extent, Promote effective utilization of digital technologies by teachers, Organize regular workshops to boost teachers' competence level. The study highlights the need for increased investment in digital technologies and teacher training to enhance the quality of biology education in secondary schools.
