Abstract
Ethernet cables Ethernet cables are fundamental to modern data communication networks, yet proper termination remains a critical challenge, particularly in field deployment where cognitive load, environmental factors, and time constraints can lead to errors. This study examines the feasibility of an enhanced color-coding method for straight-through Ethernet cables, aiming to improve usability while ensuring full compliance with ANSI/TIA/EIA T568A and T568B standards. Grounded in Cognitive Load Theory, the proposed method introduces a sequential, visually coherent color gradient for each conductor, enabling rapid verification of correct pin placement and reducing wiring errors. The research synthesizes theoretical insights, ergonomic considerations, and practical cabling standards to develop a human-centered approach that enhances both training efficiency and field performance. Key advantages include reduced termination errors, accelerated skill acquisition for novice technicians, time-efficient deployment, and improved network reliability. This study contributes to bridging the gap between technical standards and human factors, providing a foundation for the development of instructional aids, augmented reality-based training tools, and other innovative methodologies in network infrastructure education and practice.
