Abstract
This paper examines the integration of job performance and entrepreneurship development within organizational contexts, using the Kano State Community and Economic Participation Scheme (KASCEPS) as a case study. In the contemporary workplace, innovation, adaptability, and value creation have become essential drivers of success. Traditional notions of job performance centered solely on task execution are increasingly complemented by entrepreneurial qualities such as creativity, initiative, and problem-solving. Drawing on Human Capital Theory (Becker, 1964), Motivation Theory (Herzberg, 1959; Maslow, 1943), and Intrapreneurship Theory (Pinchot, 1985), this study provides a theoretical framework linking employee performance to entrepreneurial development within public-sector institutions. The KASCEPS model demonstrates how structured training, empowerment, and institutional innovation foster a culture of intrapreneurship, leading to enhanced productivity, job satisfaction, and socio-economic impact. The paper recommends institutionalizing entrepreneurship training, establishing innovation units, rewarding creative behaviours, and fostering partnerships for sustained development. It concludes that integrating entrepreneurial thinking into job performance is a vital strategy for achieving organizational efficiency, sustainability, and community empowerment in Nigeria’s evolving economic landscape.
