Abstract
Corruption especially in the public sector has been a bane to Nigeria’s underdevelopment over the decades. Several policies have been formulated and implemented to curb corruption in the country. One of such policies is the whistleblowing policy. This study examines whistleblowing policy in Nigeria using the SWOT framework to ascertain the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of the policy. Content analysis was used to elicit relevant information regarding the issues under investigation. From the findings, it was discovered that the policy has not achieved much because of the inadequate laws to protect whistleblowers. The study recommended effective protection for whistleblowers, training and retraining of financial crime experts and adequate and regular public orientation to appraise the public on the need to report financial crime should be encouraged by the government.
