Abstract
The rapid urbanization and increasing population in Pakistan necessitate the development of smart city infrastructures that are both efficient and scalable. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for scalable network design tailored for smart cities, focusing on the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, cloud computing, and edge computing. We explore various architectural models, including centralized, decentralized, and hybrid approaches, evaluating their scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the paper discusses the role of 5G technology in enhancing network performance and the importance of data security and privacy in smart city networks. Case studies from existing smart city projects are analyzed to provide practical insights into the implementation challenges and solutions. The proposed framework aims to guide policymakers and urban planners in developing sustainable and scalable smart city infrastructures in Pakistan
