Abstract
Le canal de Vema (30°W, 40°N, profondeur superieure a 4500 m) constitue le passage le plus important pour l'ecoulement de l'eau de fond antarctique, entre le bassin d'Argentine et celui du Bresil. Les nouvelles donnees courantometriques, sur environ 1 an, fournissent des energies cinetiques moyennes aussi elevees que 240 cm 2 .s −2 , et des energies cinetiques turbulentes (eddy) comprises entre 8 et 40 cm 2 .s −2 . L'ecoulement du Sud vers le Nord, persistant, a une vitesse maximale de 40 cm.s −1 . Comparaison, en termes de localisation dans le gyre subtropical, avec MODE (28°N, 70°W) et LDE(31°N, 70°W): en effet, on constate une similitude entre les courants limites occidentaux profonds (abyssaux) observes aux latitudes citees
