Abstract
Une carte de l'anomalie geopotentielle a la surface marine, relativement a 10 MPa (1000 dbar), suggere que le gyre subtropical dans l'Atlantique sud comporte deux cellules intenses centrees sur 22 S et 32 S, juste au large de la cote sud americaine. Ces deux cellules peuvent ou non etre reliees entre elles par une bande etroite d'anomalie geopotentielle elevee, le long de la frontiere occidentale. Une telle figure de circulation est associee a une tendance generale d'approfondissement, en direction du pole, des isanosteres (lignes d'egale anomalie de volume specifique) au-dessous de 300 m, et a une tendance inverse dans la couche moins profonde, tendance particulierement prononcee vers 25S. Cette figure apparait comme une caracteristique permanente
