Abstract
ResumoDesde finais da década de 2010, o Ruanda tem divulgado o seu logótipo “Visite o Ruanda” nas camisolas de proeminentes equipas europeias de futebol, e construiu novos estádios para acolher competições desportivas internacionais. Estamos perante estratégias que refletem a prática da “lavagem desportiva”, designação que se refere ao uso do desporto pelos atores políticos com vista a conquistar a legitimidade mundial, ao mesmo tempo que desviam as atenções dos processos injustos que decorrem nos seus países. Dubinsky analisa a eficácia da lavagem desportiva que se processa no Ruanda à luz do conceito de gestão de imagem autoritária, e defende que os interesses mútuos partilhados pelos atores autoritários e ocidentais facilitam a lavagem desportiva, independentemente das críticas que esta suscita.
