Abstract
This study used the 7R’s brain-friendly teaching technique within a reflective and technologically integrated learning environment in teaching biology topics such as biomolecules, photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The study sought to answer how effective is the use of BBTA in the students’ learning biomolecules, photosynthesis and cellular respiration in terms of: a. Motivation b. Learning Engagement c. Knowledge Retention d. Conceptual Understanding. It focused on the effectiveness of brain-based teaching approach with the integration of technology in teaching biomolecules, photosynthesis and cellular respiration in a biology class in terms of student motivation, learning engagement, knowledge retention and conceptual understanding. The results of the study are envisioned to contribute to the existing literature about the brain-based teaching approach and possibly provide clearer understanding of its effects on student learning using the principles of neuroscience and technology integration. Furthermore, the findings from this study are envisioned to encourage educators to use brain-based teaching approach in their classrooms given the identified positives effects on student achievement, motivation and knowledge retention especially in science subjects.
