Abstract
Adolescence is a crucial period of the lifespan to foster civic development. Previous studies suggest that classroom civic discussions result in intentions for future civic engagement. However, there needs to be a satisfying explanation. The current study is predictive cross-sectional research. Participants were Filipino senior high school students (n= 84), ages 16 to 18, in both private and public schools in Metro Manila. The study utilized positive youth development theory (PYD) to explore how prosocial behavior mediates the relation between classroom civic discussion and intentions of future civic engagement.
